Ms. Annie Desmarais ‘08 may be a new face to students, but she isn’t new to the Paul VI community. Ms. Desmarais graduated from Paul VI in 2008. She joined Paul VI as associate director of Alumni Relations last year and has added part-time psychology teacher to her duties this year. This month, Panther Press features her in its ongoing spotlight on new staff members.
How long have you been teaching?
This is my first year teaching!
What college did you attend?
The University of Scranton.
What were you doing before you came to Paul VI?
I worked for an educational technology company, doing Human Resources.
Do you have any hobbies?
I like to go to D.C. a lot, go out to eat, and I love going to the movies. I even will go by myself to see a movie… I’ve done it many times before!
What’s your routine to get ready for school in the morning?
I get up, beautify, go to Dunkin’ Donuts and then go to school.
What is your favorite thing about the students at Paul VI?
They always rise up to the occasion. They’re hilarious and just really sweet people.
What upcoming events at Paul VI are you most excited about?
Definitely Spirit Week! I love it.
What is one thing about yourself that people don’t know?
One time I ate a bowl of ants!
What did you want to be when you were little?
I always wanted to be a teacher, specifically, a grade school teacher.

What’s your favorite memory from high school?
Senior year, when we beat O’Connell in double overtime by one point, in the very last second!
Tell us about your family/pets?
I live with my two roommates, and I do not have any pets.
What advice do you have for Paul VI students?
Respect your teachers, because you might end up working with them one day! Don’t worry too much about things, because literally in one month, it won’t matter.
